From august 2006 to 2007 approximately one million lambs left the port of doyen on a journey oh hell to the continent. Many already having traveled form Scotland, Yorkshire and Wales. Weekly the trend continues. After a 2000 miles journey British lambs in carcerated in transporter for 48 hours at bare, southern in Italy in blistering heat, clambering and trampling over one another in desperation as they fought to breath, trying to reach.
Slats, painting like dogs, desperate for water. Many died from heat stroke and suffocation. Survivors still had an Adriatic sea crossing plus a further road journey to Greece. Animals are covered in the faces and urine of their companions packed around them. Numerous animals are trampled to death; others die enrooted and remain standing, wedged in amongst the living. Animals collapse from exhaustion, battering and bruising.
After a punishing journey, shell shocked survivors arrive at their final destination animal starving and demented by thirst. Terror sticker exhausted and dehydrated through lack of water, daze and disorientated. Animals stagger from transporter. Many are pushed are shoved from high ramps. Sick, injured and those with broken legs are kicked, poked and forcefully beaten with sticks. Thousand are dragged by their throats. Slit while fully conscious. It’s a never ending nightmare.
